What I learned from skiing.

My first skiing experience.

It was fun but it wasn`t easy.

I really learned a lot from doing it:

Skiing is an extreme sport,

No one can really help you,

you have to learn how to stop and how to slow down,

You have all the control,

It can`t be learned by just knowing what to do,

you have to do it for you to know it,

you have to learn it by practicing it,

and

finally you have to learn the skill by heart.

This is a good food for any meals.

It`s been a decade of Harry Potter!

The Potter`s Generation has ended but it will never be forgotten it will always be in our hearts.

Today me and my friend decided to have a Harry Potter DVD marathon but unfortunately I have to go back home So I just saw Three series of it The Philosopher`s stone, Chamber of secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban.I wish I can sleepover so we can finish watching all of the 3 remaining movies.

Japanese Star Festival

たなばた (Tanabata)!

Tanabata is a Japanese star festival. The celebration is hold on the night of 7th of July.

This festival is inspired by the old and famous Chinese folklore.

The Story of Tanabata.

Orihime (Weaving Princess), daughter of the Tentei (Sky King), wove beautiful clothes by the bank of the Amanogawa (Mlky Way).

Her father loved the cloth that she wove and so she worked very hard every day to weave it.

However, Orihime was sad that because of her hard work she could never meet and fall in love with anyone. Concerned about his daughter, Tentei arranged for her to meet Hikoboshi (Cow Herder Star) who lived and worked on the other side of the Amanogawa.

When the two met, they fell instantly in love with each other and married shortly thereafter.

However, once married, Orihime no longer would weave cloth for Tentei and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to stray all over Heaven.

In anger, Tentei separated the two lovers across the Amanogawa and forbade them to meet.

Orihime became despondent at the loss of her husband and asked her father to let them meet again.

Tentei was moved by his daughter's tears and allowed the two to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month if Orihime worked hard and finished her weaving.

The first time they tried to meet, however, they found that they could not cross the river because there was no bridge.

Orihime cried so much that a flock of magpies came and promised to make a bridge with their wings so that she could cross the river.

End

It`s a very romantic story but unfortunately the day of Tanabata, 7th of July is in the midst of Tsuyu, Japanese rainy season.So...the lovers in the starry sky miss their precious meeting so often. It is said that if it rains on Tanabata, the magpies cannot come and the two lovers must wait until another year to meet.Today it`s actually raining ang I guess this year they can`t meet.

Japanese people really celebrates this day. They display a bamboo with a narrow strips and they write their wishes on it. This year we decorated our board with origami papers, pokemon pictures and narrow paper stripes. We asked our students to wrote down their wishes in Japanese ang in English as well. They are so very creative.

This time I have to write my own wish too so here is my wish.

Today I went for a walk going to Jumunji.

No internet at home so I decided to walk going to school.

It`s a good exercise.

I walked From Daigo to Jumunji (300m)

and it took me almost an hour.

I also pass by a beautiful Japanese Park near Jumunji.

"I want to go back home!"

This is what I`ve been shouting,

after a week of massive earthquake here in Japan.

Last night, I cried all the tears that I have left.

I just can`t take it anymore my family in the Philippines were really worried about what may happen next,

so they want us to go home for awhile

until everything is okay and safe.

I talked to my mom and aunt that as early as now, if we can book a ticket and fly back home. We will do everything.

I`m really praying that Lord Yahweh will give a way for us to go back home safely.

I don`t want to risk my life here.

March 11,2011

Massive Earthquake

8.9 Magnitude hit Japan.

I`m really glad that I`m living in Akita. There`s no big destruction here in our city but still I`m really sad to see those victims of this tragic happening.

These are my firsthand experience with Mother Nature.

My first ever earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9!
None stop aftershocks from time to time. I kept waking up in the middle of the night because of this. It`s really scary.
Two days of total blackout.
There`s no cellular signals.No communications
There are no generators.
Not enough water because everything we had in the house are run by electricity.
No candles.
No heater for a night and the bad thing about that it`s still snowing here and terribly cold.

I may say that most of the people here were not that prepared when it comes to blackout they didn`t really expect it to happen because for them there is no such thing as blackout. We are also one of them. Every houses here in Japan were run by electricity from stoves, heaters, water pumps and even gasoline stations. That was the bad side of it. No matter how hightech you are you can`t use them in this kind of situation. We can`t really fight our Mother nature. All we can do is stop for awhile and pray for those people who were affected by this natural calamity.

This is not just another coming soon movie to watch,

this is the REAL thing!

Let`s continue praying for Japan.

Doll Festival (Hinamatsuri)

The Doll’s Festival (Hinamatsuri)is one of the traditional festivities in Japan. More specifically, it is one of the seasonal festival. It is held on March 3rd also known as Momo-no sekku or peach festival. It celebrates girls to grow healthier and the doll’s festival has a second name called “hina- ninngyo asobi”.

To celebrate this festival my aunt bought Bobskin 31 Hinamtsuri special ice cream for her three lovely daughters including me.

We are so happy I got chocolate with marshmallows.

I don`t feel like eating it because it`s really cute but I have to or else it will melt or worst than that my cousins will eat it.

It`s Cats day!

Today is Cat Day in Japan.

Apparently it’s because the noise a cat makes in Japanese (“nyan nyan”) bears a passing resemblance to the way “2″ is pronounced (“ni”). So 2/22 is Cat Day. Well, why not?
